My Design Philosophy

Image
My Design Philosophy This is a continue reflection of one of the classes during my masters study, Design Theory.  Being able to reflect myself and my every decision allows me to grow and keep effectively exploring. One type of reflection is to learn from mistakes. From framing a problem to building a design concept, I was always making mistakes and facing obstacles. However, because mistakes are prototypes for the future, I learned from it by revisiting them to see what went wrong and well. Problem framing is particularly the most crucial part because I cannot make it right the first time or without much experience. The wicked problem, as known as the most mysterious but key concept in design, is useful when I approach a problem or a request. It forces me to not treat a problem as a simple one but think critically about its socio-technical, economic, and ethical problems. This practice and training enable me to form my judgment and then influence my next one and how I reflect on my...

Learning with Iteration

Image
Iteration requires not only reflection but the appreciation of others’ works, opinions, or critiques and the initiative. When I do design work, I try to include others at an early stage, like asking people if my recent work, or even an idea, is interesting. What’s their first impression? By doing so, it also requires me to ask questions to others and myself, to keep doing things in a quick and dirty way, and to tell stories as if it is a prototype. The notion of iteration can be applied to finding a career path. I just came across an article by Wait But Why talking about the mindset and approach to find our ideal career. The concept is surely simple and echoes my points in learning with reflection and iteration — getting our goals, making a prototype(s) of our vision, revising it/them with people’s feedback, again and again. So to speak, finding a career path is like building design, and they are all about journey but not result, though we all know the quality of result matters. Diagra...

Vidzzy Review by a client working with them since 7 months.   I’ve worked with Vidzzy for the last 7 months, having hired and worked with designers, motion designers, illustrators  and motion graphics experts. Vidzzy has been an excellent key business partner throughout that time.  Here’s my honest review about working with vidzzy. My initial hire was a motion graphic designer. This was to organize my startup concept into a motion graphics explainer video. What I needed was a motion graphic designer who could get more information out of me and work together to craft the creative design and animation . Vidzzy offered me various people across the world and I chose a fantastic designer based in Pune, India, as my needs don’t require localized talent. It was an excellent first project, on-budget, on-time and I couldn’t have been happier.   Then I needed to get the rubber to hit the road. Again, I leveraged Vidzzy for motion design support. I wanted a complete continuou...
